Linkage Grounds Maintenance

Linkage Grounds Maintenance Contracts Team has been working successfully with the Linx Housing Association and East Lindsey District Council maintaining gardens in the Mablethorpe area for a number of years.

In 2008 the team developed a new partnership with the Waterloo Housing Group, to maintain the gardens of their new shared social housing developments; maintaining the gardens until the new occupiers move in.

This expansion has given more people the opportunity to develop their ground care maintenance skills of mowing, strimming, planting, weeding etc within a real work environment. It has also meant that some have been able to progress to secure part time paid employment

Linkage Grounds Maintenance Contracts is an initiative of Linkage Employment Services.

Linkage Employment Services was created from the belief that if people with learning difficulties are to be given any real opportunity to live independent lives then they must be given the opportunity to work and to earn a wage.

The service was created in 2000 to develop a range of sustainable employment opportunities appropriate to the needs people with learning difficulties and other disabilities, Its aim is to ensure people are:

* Working in a quality working environment
* Paid a market rate wage or salary appropriate to the work, whatever their productive capacity
* Given the level of support they require
* Fully included in the workforce and given equality of opportunity to maximise their individual potential
